If a retail store wants to expand into ecommerce, what are tax advantantages of Facebook marketing?

Q. How would marketing the new company through Facebook vs. other more traditional marketing strategies benefit the company tax-wise. I am particularly concerned with avoiding nexus and sales and use tax. Does anyone know the teax implications of facebook advertising, etc.? Thank you in advance!

A. It won't have any material affect on taxes, aside from the fact that Facebook marketing is basically free which could increase profits and therefore the business' tax liability.

How you advertise generally isn't going to affect nexus for sales tax purposes. Even in states that are testing the waters with the "affiliate nexus" concept (which I think will eventually fail) you are not the one paying the taxes, your customers are.

What are some great marketing strategies for a homeless shelter?
Q. I need some good marketing strategies to help out a homeless shelter. They already have a website, facebook, newsletter and e-newsletter. They need help on the awareness point. Please, any ideas? All are welcome. Thank you.

A. Try a community newspaper. I believe you can get it done less expensive than your newsletter, and you have a lot more room to put articles, pictures, puzzles, and sell ads to other businesses (which can pay for and even bring a profit to the newspaper). It is a trusted format. It allows you to place them practically anywhere like libraries, restaurants, Dr. offices, and so forth.

I've done this for a church and it went very well. I targeted the community. We placed about 5000 in business for people to take and the other 5000 we placed on people's door steps. It is a great way to create awareness, interest, and name recognition with very little out of pocket expense--especially since business would buy ad space from you and feel they are helping people while they are doing it.

I got mine printed at: http://www.makemynewspaper.com

Hope this helps!

God bless...

What low-cost marketing strategies yield the quickest payoffs?
Q. I'm looking to expand my marketing strategy. I rely heavily on word of mouth, have tried the local paper and even swinging into local businesses and giving out coupons. Just seems like I'm fighting a battle against a poor location and nothing will win.

Wondering if anyone had some unconventional or overlooked tried-and-true methods I could consider. The business is a small diner/lunch counter concept with breakfast and lunch served on weekdays & sundays. (weekends have zero traffic there)

A. You can zero in on your area with a facebook ad that gives away some type of coupon.

These ads can be setup so they are extremely targeted.

You can also setup a page on facebook for free but that would take more time and effort.
