What's the easiest way to market to an entire college campus?

Q. I am starting a business where I would like to reach every college-going student on a particular campus. Is there a mailing list that I can get a hold of, or do colleges usually keep that private? Again, I would like a marketing strategy that reaches nearly every student on campus. Posters and flyers in the school's library, cafeteria, etc., just won't do.

Thanks for your help!

A. Put up flyers on bulletion boards on campus.
Myspace and facebook.
Ask for the master email list

Does anybody know anything about Facebook marketing?
Q. I signed up for Facebook about 4 months ago as I have read that Facebook marketing is a great way to make money from your websites, but I don't see how it works. How do I market on Facebook without spamming my so-called friends?

A. Making money from Facebook marketing is a total myth. Social media is so hyped up right now, but it does not work as well as if you do the basics that people have been doing for so many years. Think about all the marketing gurus that have made millions of dollars before Facebook and Twitter was even around. How did they do it? They did such things as link building, article marketing, and implemented SEO the proper way on their website. I don't advise you to waste your time trying to make money with Facebook marketing. Instead focus on the marketing basics and fundamentals.

If you do want to be on Facebook, it can be a way to make friends in the industry and learn from them, but do you think your so-called friends are going to buy your products or services when they are most likely selling the same thing as you?

Advertising and promotional portion of marketing plan?
Q. I am working on a project where I design the advertising and promotional portion of a marketing plan. The plan is for a private/semi-public swimming and sports club.

The idea is to market the company as an alternative to family vacations or a healthy alternative to summer recreation and exercise.

What would be a good marketing strategy for a geographical area the size of a county? We decided local newspapers, myspace, and facebook as an idea to cater to a portion of the market. But with a budget of 3500 dollars we still can't find a good strategy.

Any input, I would be grateful.

Thank You!

A. Promotional products have been proven to be one of the most effective ways to promote your service, product or company. Even in tough times companies should use freebies or incentives as a way to brand in the marketplace. Besides the customary water bottle for a fitness facility there are so many other appropriate items that would have great branding space to put out your message. For proof of the efficacy of Promotional products I suggest you check out www.asicentral.com for the latest studies surveys on the best advertising medium and the best place to spend your dollars.
