How cheap can I get ppc advertizing for noncompetitive keywords?

Q. What's the cheapest ppc advertizing that I could get for a fairly low competition keyword and location? For instance, if I wanted to advertize "basket weaving" only to people living in Alaska, how much could I expect to pay per click and what provider gives the best deals?

A. It still can vary considerably depending on the source, Google Adwords search ads may be one of the highest priced but also best converting with proper keyword selection, I don't really know how cheap they can get now, maybe a quarter? Facebook is less because it's less well targeted, 2nd, 3rd tier ad networks are even less, but you might find they don't necessarily make for more profits.

If you get an Adwords account $10 deposit, maybe with a $30 - $100 first time user voucher, you would get a cost column added to the keyword tool.

What's the best way to advertise local B2B services online on a very low budget?
Q. I just revamped the company website, came up with a take a survey and you could win a gift card giveaway, & launched an adwords campaign, but have virtually no traffic to the site and very little funds to get it there... Any ideas on other PPC (no/low min spend) or anything else that could give me a boost? Any help is greatly appreciated!

A. Hi Marketingnube,

Let's consider your company website as a shop and all companies that could be buying from you as a person in your town.

We could organize this market in 6 different categories:
a) Recommenders
b) People buying more than once.
c) First time buyers
d) Enters
e) People passing by
f) Others

What you need to do is to come up with actions to move people from a category to the next.
Now, remember that you have different level of information about the people in each category; that makes it possible, and recommendable to treat people in each category in a different way.
As you can see, your web site may not help you much on moving people from category âfâ to category âeâ; but it can be pretty effective on moving people form category âeâ into âdâ and soon.
Here are some actions that can help you in each category:
From âfâ to âeâ:
-Advertise in local news papers, local radios, sponsor local schools teams, etc
From âeâ to âdâ:
-The advertises above will already drive some people to visit your site but you can get even more traffic with the next actions:
-Social Media Marketing -> you need to be active in forums, have a Facebook account for your company, have a twitter account, have a blog and keep it updated.
From âdâ to âcâ
-You need to give something: show the benefits and features of your product or service, test drive, try it for free, discounts, etc. But, just giving it away may not be enough. You might need to communicate what you are giving. Thatâs what the next action can help you with.
-Have a news letter; put your promotions in your website or blog. Use twitter to promote the discounts, etc.
From âcâ to âbâ
-In most cases, it has a lot to do with customer services.

I hope it helps!

How many unique hits do sites need to make good money from advertising?
Q. How many? Im talking thousands of dollars a month..not hundreds. How many unique hits would a site need to be able to attract companies who would like to place ads? This is not google adsense im referring to..im not talking ppc..i mean per mille.

What do you think? Please talk from experience or someone you know about

A. Youtube and Facebook did not make any profit for years.
In fact Facebook had to come up with serious business plans recently in order to start making profits.
Twitter is yet to come up with plans on how they will start making profit otherwise they will not be able to raise much capital.

My point is that its not the number of hits that your website gets. There are a lot of other factors that comes in to play. If your business model is based purely on hits then you need to reconsider.
