How are people on Facebook ordered in the facebook search engine?

Q. In my Facebook search engine the way people are listed will change. I will type a g for instance and all the people whose names that start with G will come up. Sometimes a certain person will be at the bottom, but then the next time I type the letter in the same person will be at the top, even if I didn't view their profile. Does this have to do with them viewing my profile?

A. I think it's based off of their relevance to you.

If you type John Smith in, you will most likely be given the John Smith that lives close to you, has similar friends as you, etc.

I also think it has something to do with how often you search for them.

How do I get a FaceBook group to appear higher in FaceBook search results?
Q. How does the FaceBook search work? How might I get my FaceBook group to appear higher up on the list when a search is conducted?

A. not suree, but i think it depends on popularity and relevance

like if you search "bob smith" and you are friends with a bob smith, the that particular bob smith will show up first. if you have 50 friends that are friends with another bob smith, or live in the same town as him, he will probably be up higher on YOUR personal search. from there, i think it is whichever bob smith has the most friends or is closer linked to you.

so, to get a group to show up higher, i think that by getting a lot of people to join and invite all their friends, you will have a better chance of more people seeing it, if that makes sense...

just make it reallly popular (: haha good luck

How does Facebook determine the order of the results when you type in a letter into the Facebook search bar?
Q. When you type in a letter into the Facebook search bar, it pre-lists a bunch of results of your friends. The order of your friends' names aren't in alphabetical order. I'm not sure if its if you view their page more or maybe they view your page more, it moves them up. But I haven't been able to prove it, so I doubt that theory.

Any ideas?

A. maybe..it's how often you interact with the person you are searching.(:
